The Year of Awesome

I’m sorry for going on hiatus for two years, but 1) some of my fellow bloggers (Casual Dater and Harper) stopped blogging and 2) I got into a relationship. Damnit. I am such a typical girl. Why do girls always drop everything once they get into a relationship and reappear in the social limelight once that relationship is over? We’ll I am 100% guilty of such crime.

Anyhoo. Femme fatale is back. Instead of selling out and going to business school to get my MRS degree, I got myself promoted. Congrats you say? Yes! Congratulations to me for making it that much harder to find a FBF more competent and successful than I am. Congratulations for sealing my destiny to becoming an old maid with 20 cats!

Just kidding. This is not going to be a blog about how depressing it is to be a femme in finance (because it is not). Instead, I am here to remind all of you wonderful femmes why our jetsetting lifestyle is amazing.

2011 is going to be The Year of Awesome and I hope to share the awesomeness with all of you. Stay tuned!

Hm. I think I slightly prefer door #2.

i’m so glad you’re back! yes, i know you mean. relationships in the beginning are almost always time consuming. if it makes you feel any better, i’m a pe sellout who went to a top 3 bschool and i really can’t vouch for the dating scene here is any better than new york :-( like your comment last entry about finding successful guys in other industries…but…even though they are successful (say partner track law or medicine) doesn’t actually mean they make more than girls on track in pe/hf… unless you think the problem is more ego vs. monetary status?

yes, I slowly learned that bschool is NOT the place to meet your FBF. I forgot that of the 70% men who attend, 50% are married/in a relationship, 10% are gay and 20% are douchebags and the remaining 20% have no desire to be in a relationship.

I used to think it was all about who made more money, but I’m slowly starting to realize that it is more about ego than money. I don’t really care that I make more money than a doctor, but I do need him to be ambitious, in a stable career. As long as he makes enough money to take me to nice restaurants and nice vacations and treat me like lady, I will be happy as a clam. It really does help when you have completely different careers. You can actually still look up to a man who makes less money than you.
